Season Schedule: July 29, 2024 thru May 4, 2025; 10:00am – 11:30am (Monday – Friday)
Pay: $56.50 per hour
COMPANY PIANIST
Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Company Pianist provides piano accompaniment for company class and, when needed, company rehearsals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned;
- Provides musical accompaniment for company class during season and as scheduled.
- Selects music for and plays company ballet class.
- If needed for live accompaniment during rehearsals, prepares the music for said ballet. Adapts, arranges, learns and studies (using available audio or video materials), piano transcription of orchestral, chamber, concerto, operatic, choral scores as well as piano solo scores.
- Records choreography in rehearsal scores, when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Substantial experience playing piano with a major dance company. (Preferred).
- Play an average of 2 hours of scheduled class.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with all teachers and dancers, building rapport, listening and responding to their needs.
- Consistently offer creative and innovative musical repertoire for class.
- Be consistently available, ready and prepared for company class, dress and technical rehearsals.
- Organize and communicate information clearly.
- Demonstrate ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Be prepared to rehearse/perform all repertoire prior to the first rehearsal, if requested.
- Basic computer skills.
