The evening that we have been waiting for all summer long is finally only 4 DAYS AWAY! Our dancers have trained countless hours, renowned Répétiteurs have put the final touches on each ballet, our costume department has sewn every last sequin and bedazzled each delicate hairpiece, the musicians have fine-tuned their instruments and are getting ready for their rehearsal in the pit, and the production team has their lighting, sound and stage cues down to a science so that Miami City Ballet can bring YOU an evening of ballet that you will never forget. We can’t wait for you to begin your journey with us during Program I: First Ventures and hope that you will join us for all of the extraordinary ballets we have planned this season.

Christina Spingner
Our next Story from Opening Night comes from corps de ballet dancer Christina Spigner!
My most memorable opening night experience was performing Balanchine’s Symphony in Three Movements with the company on opening night of the tour in Chicago when I was a student apprentice . It was special for so many reasons — first, because of course this was my very first performance with a professional company and secondly, being able to be apart of opening night is always a privilege.

Ariel Rose
We are less than TWO WEEKS away from opening night of our 2013-2014 Season! Next up on our ‘Stories from Opening Night’ countdown is corps de ballet dancer Ariel Rose. Get your tickets to Program I: First Ventures before they go!

Nicole Stalker
Our next opening night story comes from corps de ballet dancer Nicole Stalker, sharing her scariest, but most memorable opening night!
A very important guest is paying MCB a visit! He happens to be the artistic genius behind one of the ballets that is making its company premiere during Program I: First Ventures. You guessed it! The mastermind behind Polyphonia — Christopher Wheeldon!
Polyphonia was Christopher Wheeldon’s first ballet that he choreographed after retiring from a successful

Sara Esty
The next story up on our opening night countdown comes from soloist Sara Esty!
I think one of my most memorable opening nights was for Liam Scarlett’s

Sara Esty with Liam Scarlett right after performing the world premiere of Euphotic.
Euphotic. It was not only a world premiere, but it was my first opening night in a principal role that I originated. Standing next to Liam for the bow was an incredible moment that i’ll never forget. He is such a good friend and I’m so proud of all he has accomplished! We both had tears in our eyes. Luckily someone captured the moment…

Nieser Zambrana
We have only two more new dancers to introduce to everyone! This next new dancer joins the “MCB Family” and also an immediate family member — his uncle, principal dancer Reyneris Reyes. We are pleased to introduce you to corps de ballet dancer Nieser Zambrana!

Eric Trope
This week, we would like to introduce you to another new face — corps de ballet dancer Eric Trope. Look out for him onstage this season, or according to one of his self-proclaimed indulgences, at a late night karaoke bar singing his heart out:-0
Although MCB School’s 5-week Summer Intensive Program has ended, it appears that another student left his diary behind! Watch to see student Michael Holden wrap up the Summer Dance Diary series in this final diary entry. Hope you enjoyed the series!

Jennifer Kronenberg
Wrapping up our ‘MCB Summer’ series, principal dancer Jennifer Carlynn Kronenberg writes about her homecoming trip to New York, where her ballet career started in a small, local dance studio in Queens.
What a busy summer this has been for our family! The weeks have really flown by. This summer was extra special — my first as a mommy — and I have so enjoyed having the extra time to spend with my beautiful baby girl Eva. What a gift! She has grown and changed so much in the last couple of months, and she happily joined us on all of our trips this summer! Carlos and I were so nervous about taking her on her first airplane ride, and worried about how she would handle the crazy schedules of our guest appearances, but she handled everything incredibly well — a little “pro” already!
